Nonlinear load
Updated 2026-10-27
Data records
- In IEEE 1159-2019 a nonlinear load is one that draws a non-sinusoidal current when supplied from a sinusoidal voltage source.
- IEEE 519-2022 names static power converters, arc discharge devices, saturated magnetic devices and, to a lesser degree, rotating machines as the nonlinear loads of concern, with static converters the largest.
